About Me
This is my story
My name is Helena Smith. I am a mother of two children, a wife, a professional, and I hope to be a grandmother soon, despite being only 52 years old.
It is that I got married in 79, being very young and being deeply in love.
For 16 years we were an extremely happy couple, but as time went by I witnessed my marriage wear down from day to day to the brink of separation.
Michael (my husband) was not the same, I was not the same, we had lost confidence, and we decided to separate.
It was in the spring of '95 that two depressed teenagers and a fully loaded old truck made my way back to my parents' house. But this was not the solution, I felt that my life had been destroyed.
With my children as my main motivation, I set out to save my marriage and sought help.
I invested time, money and effort in finding out what it was that we had done wrong, I decided to make amends, assuming that I, and only I, had the power to take charge of my life and rebuild my marriage.
I owe this mainly to a therapist, now a family friend, who helped me overcome fear, increase my self-esteem and trust myself as a tool to rebuild the relationship.
At first awkwardly, with ups and downs, with mistakes and successes, but in the end I learned what DOES work and what does NOT work to maintain a harmonious and happy relationship.
Although my husband was hopeless and did not participate in the change in attitude, he did respond positively to my “work”. Because if we inform ourselves and learn about human relationships, we can influence people, awaken kindness, restore affection and strengthen love.
I achieved what I set out to do and also found a mission in my life.
For 16 years, 4 years after the success I had in saving my marriage, I have dedicated myself to helping people who, like me, had lost hope of living in a solid and happy family.
